JMTIA was established as a nonprofit organization in April, 1955 and celebrated the turning point of 50th anniversary in 2005. The first job for JMTIA was the publication of the importers' list with their products line. In the beginning it was called "Agency List" and in 1988 the name was changed to "Directory". We published 22 editions of Agency List or Directory since 1955. In the meantime, the publication of Directory became the one of the most important services by JMTIA for the manufacturing industries in Japan.

In December, 1999 JMTIA opened its first home page of http://www.jmtia.gr.jp which was made out in accordance with the contents of the Directory. In 2004 the site was renewed with detailed classification of machine accessories and various tools. In 2005 and 2007, the top page was updated for easier and better access to SEARCH.
