In 1955, JMTIA was established as a non-profit organization to contribute to the development of the Japanese economy by promoting imports of various machines, systems and tools, such as metal removing machines, forming machines, forging machines, robotics, measuring/inspection/handling equipment, CAD/CAM systems, accessories/components and cutting tools/holders/dies, and by holding various events which are of common benefit to JMTIA members.

Promote the business of importing the above machines and systems to Japan.

Execute various events in the common interests of JMTIA members.

Dealing with Japanese Government bodies.

Participate in various exhibitions (e.g. JIMTOF) sponsored or organized by JMTIA.

Dispatch of import promotion missions from Japan to various machine tools exhibitions held in overseas, such as EMO, IMTS etc.
